This is how I have been trying to solve it: 1/2 n + 2(N + 1) = 22, 2/1 . 1/2N + 2(N + 1) = 22 . 2/1, N + 2N + 2 = 44, 3N + 2 - 2 = 44 - 2, 3N = 42, 1/3 . 3N = 42 . 1/3, N = 14. 1/2(14) + 2(15) does not equal 22. The correct answer is N=8, but I have no idea how to solve it! Thanks for your help!

half the first plus twice the 2nd of two consecutive integers equal 22. 1/2n + 2(n + 1) = 22 1/2n + 2n + 2 = 22 5/2n = 20 5n = 40 n = 8 1/2* 8 = 4 2(8 + 1) = 18
