10 is correct

8 is not correct, soo it is like this, 24-10= 14 and 14 is the total of country and jazz cd. so u take 14-6=8, u start at 8 for country and jazz is 2 since 8-2 is 6 and 8+2 does not = to 14 soo it is not that , then u try 9 for country and 3 for jazz ( no ) and 10 country and 3 and jazz is right

so the answer is 10

No, sorry, but like others said 10 is the correct answer. Start with what you know.

Total - what you know = what's left/available

24 - 10 = 14 (country/jazz cd's available)

let [c]ountry = 6 + [j]azz  ('6 more country cd's than jazz')  <=== variables

14 = c + j   <=== formula for what's available

14 = (6 + j) + j   <=== substitute your variables

14 = 6 + 2j        <=== simplify your equation

14 - 6 = 2j        <=== move stuff and solve for 'j'

     8 = 2j        <=== divide each side by 2

     4 = j

14 = (6+4) + 4                       <=== check/solve your equation for remaining cd's

So, you have 10 pop cd's, 10 country cd's, and 4 jazz cd's  ===> 24 in all!

The answer is 10 because the difference between 6 and 10 is 4. 8 is the wrong answer.
