k+3 3/4 = 5 2/3 -1 1/3

First add the like terms on the same side ( 5 2/3 - 1 1/3 ).

17/3 - 4/3 = 13/3

Then subtract 3 3/4 from 13/3 by creating common denominators.

15/4 = 45/12

13/3 = 52/12

52/12 - 45/12 = 7/12

Once this is done you know the answer for 'k'.

k = 7/12
