The red circle represents the (infinite) set containing all odd numbers and the blue circle represents the (infinite) set containing all multiples of 5. Where the circles intersect are the odd multiples of 5. These are common to both sets. Note that the even multiples of 5 lie outside the red circle, and the odd numbers which are not multiples of 5 lie outside the blue circle.
