If u add both the equations on both L.H.S. & R.H.S...then the Y term will be cancelled and X term will be known..after finding the x term we need to substitute the value of X in any one equation...if applied we can find the value for Y... Ex: 8x+13y=179 ----> (1) [let this be equation 1] 2x-13y=-32 ----> (2) [let this be equation 2] Adding both the equation will become 10x= 147 Which gives X as 14.7 This in turn substituting in any equation Say 2 2(14.7)-13y=-32 13y= 61.4 Which when simplified gives y=4.72(approx).
