I've tried basing it as log base 9 which win worked out makes the answer end up -.25 but it doesn't work when put back in the problem. The question had to be solved using logs and/or natural logs.

me assume yu tri tu sae 9^(x+1)=27^-x

log[9^(x+1)]=log[27^-x]

(x+1)*log(9)=-x*log(27)

if base=3, log3(9)=2 & log3(27)=3

2*(x+1) =-3x

2x +2+3x=0

5x=-2

x=-0.4
