7 trillion can be written 7E12 and 500000 can be written 5E5.

The division is then made easier: 7E12/5E5=1.4E7=14E6 which is 14 million.

The figure after the E tells us how many zeroes there are and when we divide we simply subtract the numbers, so E12/E5 becomes E(12-5)=E7 which is 10 million. So 1.4E7 is 14 million.
